2. So the Senators are still tending to the country's business. Has
the House gone home for the day?

8. This scares me
I am no lawyer, I have no idea whether the president can legally do this. I would guess it's a grey area, so he will damned if he does and damned if he doesn't (because many people would say that he should have).

14. He can go there, Obama cannot until or if he uses the 14th.
You don't go blaring about that you have a trump card before you use it.

9. Harkin has fought lots of good fights.
"If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."

(Sam Adams)

11. Dan Coats (R) is speaking now.
He's mostly rambling incoherently Republican talking points.

13. At this point I am wondering
why the President has not stepped up to save not only our economy but the entire world. I fully supported our President during the 2008 election cycle, but I feel like I voted for someone other than the man sitting in the Oval Office.

I live in Utah, where I have no say in the local politics, so it is especially disturbing to see where we seem to be going. I just wish President Obama would step up and lead this country instead of trying to "compromise".

I will vote for the President because I am concerned about the Supreme Court, but it does not mitigate my dismay. I am even thinking about taking my DU bumper sticker off my vehicle.

I wish I had the optimism of some of our regular posters. I am retired and depend on my government stipend. I do not think my son would be too fond of me moving in with he and his girlfriend. :-(
