9. Just a reminder of the promises that were kept.
And YES we are all disappointed in lots and lots of things that have occurred since he was elected. Many things - including the compromise on single payer, and kissing up to wall street and then today with the debt ceiling (which by they way was a WIN for us. And there are many more things that we had hoped we'd see changed which have not changed ye. I get it.

But for a second of the obsticles and crises this President has faced since he was elected with the economy overshadwowing it all since day one. And then please remember- just for one minute- that thanks to low voting numbers, a dangerous, racist, batshit crazy group has hijacked the GOP who were never that bright in the first place, frankly. Governing is never easy- governing with these wackos is impossible.

But just in case you forgot...

15. You do know that many of these items (Americorps, etc) have been taken back since they were passed,

right? You count Americorps expansion as one of Obama's "accomplishments", but Americorps has already met the chopping block.

And a number of those items like the "rapid response fund for emerging democracies" are just new ways to funnel taxpayer money to the MIC.

17. 11.69% IF they stop at 513 AND you don't count ones that are...
...mealy-mouthed halftruths or mere repeats.

Also...

No. 433: Sign a “universal” health care bill

Those are some pathetically low requirements you have to consider a 'promise kept'. If I offered you Universal Housing in Malibu, then charged you standard rent for it, you'd count that a 'promise kept'?

Yeah, didn't think so.

18. Other...there's something to be said about...
being a bit of a cynic.

Really, I just shake my head in sad amusement at anyone who believed all the campaign hype.

From ANY of the candidates.

Anyway, I did a search on campaign promises and came across this site...not sure how biased it is, but it seems to suggest that Obama has kept way more campaign promises than not.

http://www.thepresidentialcandidates.us/president-obama-has-kept-most-campaign-promises/1361/

When I voted for him, I wasn't under any illusions that much would change except for the Historical importance of having a black man as president. In fact, when I saw people getting all frothed up with excitement, I was worried that they WOULD be disappointed when their fantasies didn't become reality. IMO, it was almost like Obama was speaking to them personally. Like when God speaks to people who think they hear him.

Ooooh...Obama is promising me this....

Wow...he's promising me that...

When he doesn't...or can't...he falls off the pedestal they placed him on, and then he sucks.

So OK, yeah. People need to hold a politician's feet to the fire. But they need to be realistic in their expectations.

And...IMO...they need to ask themselves if they could have done a better job. If they think they could...then why the hell aren't they in politics themselves?
