Obama amassed a record $750 million as he surged to victory in 2008. His 2012 campaign total is expected to hit $1 billion or more, even without a major Democratic primary opponent or the emergence of a strong Republican contender.

I don't think having this BS again in six months, and then again six months after that would serve the country.

Certainly that's part of it. It's just clear that no good can come from having this conversation again a few months down the road.

Because the first batch of cuts start right now. Which hurts the economy. "The economy sucks" is the only viable way for the Republicans to win. An so they manage to win a deal that makes the economy suck, and got Obama to call it a good thing.

Of course, I doubt this debt deal will make it through the Teabagger House but maybe that's what President Obama wants.

The Repubs won things. LOTS of things. A veritable cornucopia of budget cuts.

We lost things. A lot of things. You don't get to call it a "win" just because there are things we didn't lose.

What issue exactly did we win on? Not "not concede on", WIN. Did we get revenue increases? I'd ask if we won on anything else but I can't even recall anything we asked for that would be an improvement over what we already had in place. That's pretty telling don't you think? Our negotiating position from the beginning was pretty much "we know you are gonna beat us up, just don't leave too many marks, OK?".

Cuts are exactly the wrong thing for the economy. Which means economy continues to suck, at best. If we get really lucky, we get a double-dip and Gov. Goodhair wins in 2012.
