I don't engage you in your threads. You shall never change my mind and I shall never change yours. I'm certain you see me to be as one noted as I see you.

Can we leave it there and not annoy each other?

I am tired of these games.

Most of us know that these theatrics are a sham, and orchestrated only to
allow these bastards to gift the millionaires and screw senior citizens
and the rest of the middle class.

I don't need to witness these thugs acting like drama queens and playing
their bit roles.

CNN has a "countdown" clock, for Pete's sake. Nice dramatic touch.

Which, in this economy with so many people suffering, is unseemly...and pretty damn distasteful. :( Though not one dime of that Billion dollars will be mine.

Nothing matter more than getting reelected. Which he won't be anyway.

25. That was the first thing announced when he announced he was running again.
And you know very well Obama isn't going to put that quote out himself. :eyes:

<snip>

Could raise $1 billion
Obama amassed a record $750 million as he surged to victory in 2008. His 2012 campaign total is expected to hit $1 billion or more, even without a major Democratic primary opponent or the emergence of a strong Republican contender.

"It's definitely within reach, as he raised three quarters of a billion last time. As the incumbent president it's quite plausible to imagine him raising $1 billion," said CFI Executive Director Michael Malbin.

Jim Messina, a former White House deputy chief of staff who will run Obama's, has been telling big supporters they will need to collect $350,000 each. His campaign headquarters will be in Chicago will be staffed with White House veterans.

Obama made his message clear on Tuesday at a $30,800-plate fund-raiser at a popular New York restaurant.

"I could not do what I do ... if I didn't know that I had a lot of people out there rooting for me and a lot of friends supporting me," Obama told donors at the dinner, which raised $1.5 million for the Democratic National Committee.<snip>

31. U. of course, are correct - the billion expectation didn't come directly from him.
Maybe he doesn't have a clue how much money is expected to be raised for his re-election.

“Former West Wing staffer Jim Messina, Obama’s likely campaign manager, has been holding donor meetings around the country, and the president is scheduled to hold a series of fundraisers in New York and California over the next few weeks,” reports Politico.com. “The campaign is expected to raise $750 million to $1 billion.”

Because the first batch of cuts start right now. Which hurts the economy. "The economy sucks" is the only viable way for the Republicans to win. An so they manage to win a deal that makes the economy suck, and got Obama to call it a good thing.

It's astounding how little the Democratic party understand about elections.

Since *he* as the President of the United States of America chose to accept the radical right wing framing of the economic debate and he chose to legitimize radical right wing arguments, this leaves him with no choice but to savage the social safety nets! He's not a king, yanno! Nader!

42. It's a victory because EVERYTHING good in the Fed budget wasn't cut?
The Repubs won things. LOTS of things. A veritable cornucopia of budget cuts.

We lost things. A lot of things. You don't get to call it a "win" just because there are things we didn't lose.

What issue exactly did we win on? Not "not concede on", WIN. Did we get revenue increases? I'd ask if we won on anything else but I can't even recall anything we asked for that would be an improvement over what we already had in place. That's pretty telling don't you think? Our negotiating position from the beginning was pretty much "we know you are gonna beat us up, just don't leave too many marks, OK?".

52. I am not wrong about the simple fact that President Obama - the President of the United States
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 12:57 AM by myrna minx
of America - decided to abide by and cater to the radical right wing framing of this political and manufactured "crisis". We, the American People are thus rendered lesser for his subscription to "trickle down" economics and by the adherence to tea-bagging economics. Had I known this way back in 2008...

On edit -just because on paper he might float PELL grants for a few kids, doesn't absolve his total assumption of the radical right wing framing for the USA's economic worldview. There's no denying that he's accepting the radical right wing's economic argument and "compromised" from there...a losing strategy from the get go...

The first round of cuts is immediate.

Cuts are exactly the wrong thing for the economy. Which means economy continues to suck, at best. If we get really lucky, we get a double-dip and Gov. Goodhair wins in 2012.
