17. it doesn't feel like winning to me
perhaps he won, and what i'm feeling is that *we* didn't win.

but that's wishful thinking on his part i think.

19. Of course they would
Even if there had been true compromise, they would have framed it as a victory.

2. So, what's the take on this... just fake bravado or some truth?
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 10:49 PM by hlthe2b
i.e., what is it that Cantor suggests will "doom" Obama in 2012? Just BS or something else?

9. The jury is out
and will be at least until the 2012 campaigns get going. There are a lot of possibilities. Some Democrats may even be helped by it.

24. If someone was asking him a question about Bourbon, I might listen to what he has to say.
The man should have an educated and expert opinion on that subject matter.

Sweet, sweet Bourbon.

The rest of what they are spinning is a desperate attempt to build political cover...the shitstorm from the Far Right will rain down on their heads in about, oh six hours or so.

6. Yeah, preserving Pell Grants & protecting SS/Medicare benefits will defeat Obama in 2012 for sure!!!
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 10:51 PM by ClarkUSA
:sarcasm:

Read the WH fact sheet and tell me how preserving Pell Grants and protecting SS & Medicare benefits - among other things listed - are not liberal policy victories: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=433x729115

8. No balanced budget amendment, nor cuts to SS or Medicare = Teabagger revolt.
That is not a win for the Rethugs. Boner in their eyes is throwing the under the bus with a deal like this one.

10. Sounds like GOP PsyOps to me
But if DU was a large enough bloc to swing an election, Cantor would be correct.

Question is, will Dems keep playing into their hands?

If Obama is ousted in 2012, the Right and some of the Far Left will get what they want, but only one of them will be happy with the replacement. I wonder who that will be?

23. I guess if Boehner and Cantor agreed on this ... it must be a damned lie.
I've never known these guys to be honest before. If this were really in their favor they'd wait until the ink was dry to crow about it. Nobody's voted for anything yet, you know.
