So what if the republican choose 6 tea party members on the committee? Wouldn't that create the
same situation we are in now, perhaps worse because of the mandatory cuts

2. Perhaps I am overstating it for the present, but the influence the tea party has in the republican
party is significant, and it could become even more pronounced which could create a lot of future problems for this commission

8. Most of them are freshmen, and I bet the older guys are feeling
a great deal of resentment by now. They're not going to just hand over the reins of power.

3. if that happens
then the democrats appoint the six most progressive representatives to the committee: dennis kucinich, raul grijalva, jim mcdermott, sheila jackson lee, maxine waters, and barbara lee. if there are more progressive members, feel free to replace any of the above mentioned names. i'm not too familiar with all members of the house. i love jim mcdermott because i see him on the seattle news stations frequently.

4. Even I am not cynical enough to go there.
They are pissed about their little frankensteins. Yeas, they were useless idiots at the polls, but they were expected to know their place.

No, this super congress will be made up of the likes of Saxby Chabless, Chuck Grassley & Jeff Sessions along with Ben Nelson and the ghosts of Blanche Lincoln & Max Baucus (in whosever body they will be in incarnating this week).

Same old, same old.

6. Or he could pick some to throw them a bone.
Both ideas sound plausible. I don't want to try to get too deep into his head though. Staring into the abyss, and all that. :)

7. He could do that. Pick enough to give them a voice but no real power.
