I guess I am just Old School

I miss the old Washington when politicians on both sides would spend all week arguing about policy. Then, on Friday nights, they’d walk across the aisle, slap each other on the back, rent a hotel suite, order up a couple dozen pitchers of martinis from room service, hire some expensive call girls, charge the whole thing to a lobbyist’s credit card and let bygones be bygones – until Sunday morning, when the DC cops would arrive, drive them all home and cover it up.

1. Yes, I often pine for "smoke-filled " rooms where the parties

would seriously find candidates for office. Say what you
will but the smoke-filled rooms produced our greatest
Presidents and Legislators who believed in something
and stood up for something.

2. Smoke-filled rooms got shit done.

There was a lot wrong with them, and I'm not advocating for a return to those days and giving up the gains we've made in other areas, but damn, they got shit done.
