AS far as I am concerned Obama is a one term president. Instead of rants Democrats
like us need to get to work identifying some really viable alternatives to Obama. Now.

One thread has already asked should Elizabeth Warren run for president. (Warren against Bachmann??)

Let's hear who else.

3. Dennis Kucinich.
Because at DU, "Dennis Kucinich" is always the answer.

Now what was the question again?

7. Who are the real Democrats that we can support
to replace the fucking neoliberals?

That's the question.

DK is obviously one, if voters will have his back when tptb do their best to marginalize him.

"Just imagine what it would be like to have a president who's right the first time."

Alan Grayson. Feingold...maybe. Peter De Fazio.

I'm sure there are some others.

4. ...because 20 minutes spent debating a primary challenge here...
is 20 minutes you don't have to spend actually doing anything about it.

When someone here actually picks up the phone to call the candidate of their choice, or write to them, I'll take the issue seriously.

5. What about the African American vote?
These threads about replacing Obama never seem to address a core constituency of Democrats--African Americans. Will they turn out if the Dem party ousts the first AA president? Or are their votes simply taken for granted? I'm really curious how that would play out.

6. There is no viable alternative to Obama.
The best you can hope for is that a primary challenger can nudge him leftward.

...with a failed war, and the near-destruction of the world's financial system, got us the present president. This is almost as left as this country goes.

I don't want to think about the circumstances necessary to get a 'real' liberal elected.
I suspect they're not all that different from the circumstances necessary to get a Man on Horseback.

Fire and brimstone, rivers and seas boiling, forty years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanos. the dead rising from the grave, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria, or some other kind of Naderian wet dream

10. Making Lists Is Fun
Naming them is Fun too. Suggestions:

People who won't run for President in 2012.
People who have no chance of winning if they run as independents in 2012.
Meaningless list of names.
