Beware the WEASEL WORDS..."No cuts for Medicare beneficiaries."
Edited on Mon Aug-01-11 03:07 PM by Atman
I'm 52. I've paid into the system my whole life, but I'm not currently a beneficiary. And it appears I won't be any time soon. These guys know how to craft words. When they tell us not to worry, that this "compromise" doesn't include any cuts to "Medicare beneficiaries," my fellow 50+ friends should be afraid...very afraid. Step off of the rug, because it's about to be pulled out from underneath you, so that the wealthy don't have to suffer.

1. This is such BS.
I am on Medicare now. Cuts to providers mean cuts to recipients. If you reduce payments to
providers, they will reduce services to patients, especially in a profit-driven health care world.

How really dumb do they think we are. It is already difficult to find doctors who will take us.
My husband's doc only accepts him as patient because he had been a patient previously.

If provider services are cut, the program loses value to those it serves. When it loses
value, it is easier to drown it in the Norquist's little hot tub, isn't it?

And why would Obama and the Dems give away their best argument for the election next
year? They were the ones who were going to protect us from the big, bad Ryan onslaught.

Well, that strategy is dead in the water.

2. No one except the most extreme loyalists seem to be falling for that.
Not the CBC, not the Progressive Caucus, not the economists.

I'm thinking of taking the rest of the decade off.

4. Just don't eat, drink, smoke or do anything fun.
You might hurt yourself, then you won't be able to afford to get better.

5. Someone will be here shortly...
...to tell you that 2% is not a big deal and physicians will not dump patients for a mere 2%. It has already been stated in other threads.

I would also like to mention that there are other professionals besides physicians who routinely see Medicare patients and they will also be affected.
