Yo, House Democrats, this is your cue to kill this thing
NEWS! Rep. DeFazio says Biden told House Dems, if all else had failed, Obama was willing to invoke the 14th Amendment.

It follows that if the House kills this poison pill, he will use the 14th Amendment.

he's talking past tense like the deal is done. Maybe it is, or maybe the dems will call the bluff. A long shot, i know...

14. More likely this is a chink in the administration's united front.
Obama didn't want to be seen willing to do this because he's not really negotiating with Republicans, he's negotiating with Democrats.

8. But that would be dumb...
Considering that Obama's already said that his legal team had advised him against using it. I have no doubt that the Rethugs would try to impeach him over it.

10. It's time to quit worrying about what the Republicans will do.
The rest of the country is with us on most progressive things. This compromising BS is getting us no where.

Bring it on. They'll just be shooting themselves in the foot.

15. They didn't impeach him for starting a war in Libya.
They didn't impeach him for torturing Bradley Manning.
They didn't impeach him for defending their "right" to wiretap without warrant.

I don't care. I prefer President Biden anyway.

19. Let's really look at this impeachment thing.
The only reason they got Clinton was because he lied about Monica, something Ken Starr dug up, when he couldn't find any wrongdoing on the stuff he had started to investigate Clinton on. If there had been no Monica, and therefore the lie under oath, there would have not been an impeachable offense. So if they go after Obama to impeach him, they have to investigate if he really is wrong in this. My bet is, they can't. Even with the lying Clinton beat the rap. I don't really think President Obama has anything scandalous or criminal to hide in his past that could come up.

I'd say go for it.

25. This does not makes sense.
If Obama was willing to invoke the 14th, then we should have gotten much, much, more. The Republicans would have very little leverage.

28. Bill's got problems, but I'd vote for it considering alternatives.
Default is a disaster. 14th amendment goes before Clarence Thomas Supreme Court. Less worser of bad alternatives.

On the other hand, I can respect those who want to stop it.
