Wheel-spinning on the internet
Critics of Obama and the Democrats will frequently argue our leaders should have staked out a strong, consistent position on an issue. It will be noted by defenders of their behavior that such a position was attempted. Unfortunately for all of us, the attempt has never been strong or consistent, but is swiftly abandoned at the first sign of serious pressure. Critics point this out, and claim that if only the stance -had- been strong and consistent, none of the late awfulness we experienced would have happened. Unfortunately that's impossible to prove, and so we move on to the next issue.
