Well....there is good news and bad news
In the whole debt ceiling debate no matter what congress decides today they can change their mind later. Kind of like 'hey, these tax cuts are only good for 2 years, unless we change our mind later of course' so we can still work hard to get the right people in office to fix things.

I liken it to some news I just got over the weekend. My son got home from Iraq, was ready to come back home to Ohio in September - and then....found out there was a mix up in his paperwork and he is still in the military and will stay at Ft. Hood until January. All our plans, especially his of a nice fall wedding (already married, but wanted a real wedding now that they have the time) are all down the tubes.

I was going to see him in 4 weeks, now it will be months. The good news though is that if they had caught the error before he came home he would still be in Iraq instead of back here with his 3 kids.

Up the dang debt ceiling, make some promises, and then later we can deal with it all and make changes - especially changes to those people in congress.

Change is something we can believe in and fight for, and if we were this active in 2008 and now - well then we can get out the word every election and work to make change. This is a never ending battle - and you only lose when you give up.

And there is NOTHING they would like more than for you to be quiet, frustrated, and give up.

I heard that somewhere before . . .

Glad your kid is home and getting out, albeit late.

3. We have to fix it later - because there is always a problem
We cannot fix everything right now, never has happened and never will.

It is a constant battle in a changing landscape of issues.

You have to fight, now and always. Right or wrong that is the way it is. There will always be those who oppose you and your ideals.

8. What other choice is there? Those we oppose will not give up - why would we?
You only lose when you stop fighting. The early Christians were killed, hated, had little hope, and yet through it all they kept going and preaching their ideals. They were a minority that by any reckoning should have failed - but they persisted with their message (albeit it is perverted today IMHO by many) - and they went from a persecuted group with little hope to what we see now.

If you believe, you never stop fighting.

11. Is your son
with the 3rd ACR (based at Ft Hood)? My son just got home from Iraq 2 weeks ago there was a total sense of relief that he made back in one piece. Military life sucks as far as extended family goes...stationed far away from family. But I made that decision a long time and don't really regret it. I kind of regret it these days though.
