The "Why Stopper": 76 Gas allows you to not have to talk to your kids while driving.
I saw this just now on the teevee, thought
sure it was satire. It's not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwh18rLTq1U&NR=1

CHILD: "Why is the sky blue?"

AD VOICE GUY: "This is a problem. But now there's the Why Stopper
from your friends at 76 Gas. Our knowledge retrieval professionals
have recorded the answer to almost any child's question.
So you can drive in peace. The Why Stopper, from 76.
We're not just top tier gas. We're on the driver's side."

4. An explanation from 76.com:
"We agree, children are adorable – but sometimes their questions aren't. Especially when you are driving. That's why we've created the WhystopperTM, a special toll-free phone number where we have recorded the answer to almost every child's question. All you have to do is dial (or if you are behind the wheel, have your passenger dial for you), give the phone to your child, and enjoy your drive in peace."

And if they STILL won't leave you alone, stop by any particpating 76 station for a roll of colorful 76 mouth tape! Free with gasoline purchase.

answer to the question, "Why?"

Mom: "Because I said so, that's why!"

9. wow, the best has been driving kids around cause we talk about so much. my oldest got his license
recently and i am really missing the driving him around. i would pick him up from school, he would start talking. we would park in the garage and sit there for however long he needed to, me just listening to him.

sad, huh.

10. Yeah, it is sad.
I enjoy talking to my sons. I found their questions (when they were little) amusing. I was amazed sometimes at how outside the box they thought. I still love talking to them. They are smart, funny, & thoughtful guys.

14. absolutely. when they were little we explored so much in everything that was said
hence the listening and interacting absolutely allowed the thinking outside the box. agree totally.

12. We're on the same page SB.
My oldest just got his license too.

I loved the "why" questions, and not because I always knew the answer. Sometimes we'd come home and hunt down the answer together (now I probably ask more than I answer).

I have to think these ideas originate in a mind that has no idea what parenting is about.

11. I find it odd that teabaggers are so riled up about government getting all up in our business, when
clearly the biggest threat comes from corporations.

13. well, I think it's cute
I loved my kids' questions too, and I loved the fact that they asked them, but maybe my kids are just extra chatty, because there were times when I would have done anything for just a few minutes of quiet. And besides, in certain kinds of traffic it's best for the driver to not be distracted.

The name "Why Stopper" is maybe not perfect because it sounds like they think parents want their kids to stop asking questions, which isn't the case. But I think the idea is fine.

16. Why not just tell the kid to shut it for a second and wait until the parents aren't distracted any
more? It's important for kids to learn that they sometimes have to shut up and wait.
