At least when bush was Prez we had common purpose and a little fun
Now the half that think Obama is some Jedi 14-Dimensional Judo Chess while everyone else is playing checkers are left fighting with the half of us that think he's sold us out to the Corporate Oligarchy.

Some say he's made great steps for We The People, while others say he acts just like bush.

The rising tide of a campaign of Hope and Change has morphed into a threat of Or Else.

At least under bush we had a common enemy and a focus. Now under Obama we're torn and a mess. Maybe it was part of some dark plan to further divide us on both sides so that we never get together to fight our real enemy, The Corporate Oligarchy. The right wing is torn between the neocons and the teabaggers, and the left is torn between neolibs and progressives. Still more of us are just dropping out of the system all together.

If it was a Dark Plan, it's working. The poor and shrinking Middle are gnashing our teeth and the rich are sprinting further ahead with no slowing down.

I'm not attacking anyone, just mourning the situation and the lack of fun.

3. You have to figure out the GOP's main goal.
They don't want the government to be able to do anything. Period.

So they do every thing they can to stop all movement. They filibuster everything. They manufacture crisis after crisis.

And when they can't bring things to a total stop, they do their level best to make sure legislation that does base has something in in you hate.

One part of the left gets angry at the GOP for doing this. The other part of the left gets angry at Obama because he can't make things go faster.

If we all focused on our common enemy, rather than barking at each other like a bunch of yippy dogs, we'd be better off.

6. Good point instead of the usual Presidential Festivus
do something. I sat in on an hour long coversation with my congressman who happens to be a Democrat, the people on the line with questons, also democrats for the most part are not angry with the President they are angry with the Tea Party. The elderly folks who spoke were frightened (this was about a day before the deal) that they would not get their checks and would be evicted from their apartments. It was fascinating to listen to people who do not participate in on line political groups voice their concerns and what they believe are the problems in Washington. I think 1200 people participated in this call which indicates that people are engaged in the process and do care about outcomes.

16. We got to hope that people recognize what's going on ...
This week the GOP is doing what it can to screw up the FAA. And its easy for them to do, they just have to do nothing.

It's also why the GOP is blocking every appointment that they can ... not just because they don't like the nominee, but because they want as many holes in the government as they can get.

15. my question is...
when the repukes are back in power, will the dems have the guts to filibuster as well?

I have a sneaky feeling they won't.

25. Its not about guts .... let me explain ....
Like I said, the GOP's primary goal is to bring all aspects of the government to a stop.

The Democrats do not have a goal of bringing the entire government to a stop. In fact, they actually want the government to do things.

The filibuster is a great tool for stopping and slowing down government action, but it isn't a very good tool for making the government do things.

In fact, if the Democrats used the same approach as the GOP, and filibuster everything when in the minority, the GOP would be thrilled, because that helps slow the government down, which again, is their primary goal.

5. It's always more "fun" to band together with other like-minded pals, and
kvetch about those we loathe..

Cousin will fight cousin, brother will fight brother, but when the bully from another neighborhood shows up, cousins & brothers band together to fight the bully..

We had 8 long years of a common foe..and we were united in it.. Now he's gone..and so is the camaraderie

12. Oh, give it a rest.
Many of us have issues with Obama, but it *isn't* vacations - and Bush was on vacation WAY more than Obama. In fact, Bush was on vacation (and ignoring PDBs saying "bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside U.S.) a couple of weeks before 9/11.

And the stimulus was not big ENOUGH. And what new regulations are you going on about?

Obama has been very disappointing, but worse that Bush? Ummm, no.

22. I never thought I'd be agreeing with a statement that begins "At
least when Shrub was Pres..." but you hit the nail on the head. We are deeply divided, fragmented and demoralized and many of us are left with the Hobson's choice of voting for Obama or not voting at all.

24. When Bush was "Prez". Americans were murdered on 9/11 and the massive spending began.
If you think the kind of misplaced loyalty that had people attacking Dixie Chicks is a good thing, you've got something wrong upstairs.
