Remember Heather Wilson? New Mexico?
http://www.rollcall.com/issues/57_1/heather-wilson-running-to-the-right-in-new-mexico-206983-1.html

Wilson has the blessing of 26 state legislators, former Republican Reps. Manuel Lujan and Bill Redmond, and former Sen. Pete Domenici (R), who also endorsed her over Pearce in the closing days of the 2008 primary.

Her campaign’s YouTube channel features a video titled, “Conservatives Support Heather Wilson,” and last week she signed the “cut, cap and balance” pledge sponsored by a coalition of conservative groups including Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and the Tea Party Express.

A GOP primary poll released last week by Democratic firm Public Policy Polling found Wilson with a 2-to-1 lead over Sanchez, including a 17-point lead among those self-identifying as “very conservative.” That’s partly due to Wilson’s name identification advantage, but she also remains quite popular, with a 66 percent favorable rating overall.

In this entire article, NOWHERE is it mentioned about her involvement in the threats against David Iglesias in the Karl Rove--DOJ political firings of the US Attorneys.

Rep. Heather A. Wilson (R-N.M.) acknowledged yesterday that she contacted a federal prosecutor to complain about the pace of his public corruption investigations, as the Senate ethics committee signaled that it had opened a preliminary inquiry into a similar communication by her state's senior senator, Pete V. Domenici (R).

Wilson denied allegations from former New Mexico U.S. Attorney David C. Iglesias that she pressured him to speed up a political corruption investigation involving Democrats in the waning days of her tight election campaign last fall.

"I did not ask about the timing of any indictments and I did not tell Mr. Iglesias what course of action I thought he should take or pressure him in any way," Wilson said in a statement to The Washington Post. "The conversation was brief and professional."

1. She's a slime...a very slick, smart one too , which makes her a very dangerous candidate

She was being groomed to be a senator since she was brought here, and the people who've been planning that for all these years may finally get their wish. She has been able to pose as a moderate pretty effectively (which cost her a narrow defeat in the last repub primary) but may be enough to put her over the top this next time. The conservatives will support her and she may very well be able to trick enough 'moderate" "swing voters" into supporting her too, to make her our next senator (the thought makes me sick to my stomach, but it's unfortunately very possible).

Edited to add that John Sanchez is every bit the slimeball Heather is. Either one would be a disaster, but I think that Heather's being the long time protege of the bafflingly much-worshiped "St. Pete" Domenici will make her a very formidable candidate in a general election. She would have given Udall a run for his money too; we got damn lucky that Pearce narrowly beat her(although Tom was a strong candidate too and may have been able to beat her, but having Pearce made it a slam dunk). I hate to say it, and it's still early, but if I was a betting man, I'd put some bucks on her .
