OPINION
What Happened to Obama?
Published: August 6, 2011

......................

But the arc of history does not bend toward justice through capitulation cast as compromise. It does not bend when 400 people control more of the wealth than 150 million of their fellow Americans. It does not bend when the average middle-class family has seen its income stagnate over the last 30 years while the richest 1 percent has seen its income rise astronomically. It does not bend when we cut the fixed incomes of our parents and grandparents so hedge fund managers can keep their 15 percent tax rates. It does not bend when only one side in negotiations between workers and their bosses is allowed representation. And it does not bend when, as political scientists have shown, it is not public opinion but the opinions of the wealthy that predict the votes of the Senate. The arc of history can bend only so far before it breaks.

4. Getting here is one thing- being here is another
People have had ridiculous expectations. Candidates spend their time with true or luke- warm supporters definitely or maybe lean in the direction of wanting them to succeed.
This president has had to spend most of his time with haters who want to see him fail.
Why is it that we believe we know what he should do and how he should act under that pressure?

This author would have more credibility if he somehow went to work for the New York post and revolutionalized the disposition of all of the other writers.
When the liberals join and rise among CEOs of corporations and are successful implementing all of the changes they want to see, maybe they will have some credibility on insight into the president's actions.
Until then none of us has true familiarity of what his job is like and what is actually possible. No president should get an unconditional free pass. But I do think that fairness in criticism matters.
