1. I think it's saying Obama got his ass kicked and got a poor grade -
aren't those AAA guys the rating agencies?

I don't necessarily agree, by the way, but that's what I THINK this means.

16. I see it the same way, although I guess I can see the explanation
that it is the bottom of his rib cage. This cartoonist should have had someone look at this before releasing it. That definitely looks like----a tent. So in thinking that, I was wondering what it might be supposed to mean. I figured it meant that he was ready to fuck the country? But----it is just shitty drawing. Good.

8. Its based on an ad for one of those credit-monitoring firms
You know, the kind that want a hand in your pocket every month, just so you can watch your credit scores wiggle up or down by a few points.

Anyway, in their ad, there are two strong credit scores represented by strapping young men with 700-somethings on their chests. There's a short fat guy with a 500-something score on his chest, and he's clearly trouble. The point of the ad is to make sure you correct the record on the third score, so that it can look good like the other two.

Of course, this is simply an attempt to pin the S&P thing on Obama.

if you go to YouTube and search "score guys" it's the second video in the results,,,,

Probably not much point in dissecting his work...
Make no mistake, Yates is unapologetically conservative. He said he gets cartoon ideas from watching CNN, Fox News and the Contra Costa Times.

“All I saw in newspapers were liberal cartoons, and I said, let me see what I can to do present the other viewpoint. My cartoons are conservative yet humorous, I try to keep them humorous,” said Yates. “A few of my outspoken friends are very jealous.”

He said he has learned a great deal about the editorial cartoon business over the past couple of years.

“I figured out that the cartoons have to be stuff most everyone knows. has to reference headline news,” said Yates. “I prefer national, political type cartoons, but if something strikes me as far as what’s going on locally, I draw one up.”

So far, he hasn’t sold any cartoons via the AAEC, but he’s optimistic. He’s definitely keeping his day job for now.

“I’m sure there are some that make a living from their work, but they have think tanks behind them. I have to do all my thinking for me,” said Yates, adding that he has already formed a little group of friends that toss ideas his way, including one of his supervisors at the District.

“There have been a couple of letters that said I had bad taste,” conceded Yates. “That’s not true. I have great taste, just ask my wife Kathy.”

sometimes wearing a hockey mask.. etc



This seems to be a very poor attempt at a parody of them.

Whereas Obama (?) lacks muscles but has a huge unit which clearly reaches passed his navel. I'd rather be the skinny black dude. You can always do pushups but you can't do dick-ups.

Otherwise, this is a New Yorker cartoon to me.
