Question about the riots in London.
Are the rioters hurting themselves by being destructive? Won't their taxes go to pay for fixing the damages?

It's businesses that have been the main target. But few businesses can get back the full cost to them of the disruption.

5. I think even with the austerity measures in place in GB
these people aren't paying taxes.
According to what one rioter told a reporter, it's the only method they believe they have to call attention to the poverty in the area. It works.

7. An ongoing issue in a community is not the same thing as
trying to hang those problems on new austerity policy related to the current mess.
