‘We weren’t kidding around, either,’ he said. ‘We would have taken it down.’”
“For Republican leaders, there was pride in a hand well played. ‘I think some of our members may have thought the default issue was a hostage you might take a chance at shooting,’ Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said. ‘Most of us didn’t think that. What we did learn is this — it’s a hostage that’s worth ransoming.’…

“‘Would Democrats have ever agreed if they thought the new freshman class was going to roll over? No. The freshmen made our hand so much stronger,’ said in an interview. ‘You had a fear of how far they would go. I’m sure the president looks back, too, and was fearful. But in negotiations, isn’t that the best thing?’

“Chaffetz, who voted against both Boehner’s first proposal and the final bill, said he was well aware of how the leadership had used his and others’ willingness to let a default happen as a negotiating chip, and said he didn’t mind at all. ‘We weren’t kidding around, either,’ he said. ‘We would have taken it down.’”

1. And they whine about being called "terrorists?"
These people are saying they would destroy the nation to further their ambitions. I think that is terrorism and treason all rolled into one.

Their hatred for liberals, Democrats and this president takes precedent over everything else . . . including their own livelihoods.

11. But why would the President,a Democrat? put Social Security and
Medicare on the table as bargaining tools, unless he just wants to be a 1 term President?
People I have talked to say they are troubled by Obama giving away the store to these idiots.
One does not have to conduct an official survey to find out that voters are pissed and look at it as...Well if a Republican get elected we lose SS and Medicare and if Obama gets elected we still lose so what choice do we have...

32. That's such a good plan
Edited on Mon Aug-08-11 09:18 PM by MadMaddie
let's spend money on a primary when we have to run against' "Citizens United" Repugs.

Seriously, people we need to start thinking of getting through this election and retaining what we have which is the Presidency, win back in overwhelming numbers the House and gain more seats in the Senate.

Start planing for our Progressive 2016 candidate....

The Republicans planned for the long game....what do we do? we lurch from election to election and play the short game....

We are smarter then they are and they know it....we just don't know how to implement our strategy very well. We have to get better at it, if we want this country to survive.

:sarcasm:

12. Isn't this a public confession of treason? Doesn't this justify a drone attack? Why not?
The best thing Obama could do, and entirely legal under current law, is to simply drop a couple hundred missiles on Tea Party houses and offices.

35. These people are of the same attitude of the Taliban or al Queda
or any criminal or terrorist organization (name your favorite). Oh yes, extortion is a great way to run a country huh?

They don't belong in public office. They belong in PRISON. But, since our Usurping Clown Court is infested with them too, and our President is a pink-tutu snivelling puffball, they'll never get put there.
