Can you visualize what a'modest adjustment in Medicare' is?

raising the eligibility age from 65 to 67 perhaps?

And you say awwwww, that's not so bad=

But wait~ you actually THINK for a minute and realize that means you either have to work longer to 'keep' whatever lousy employer based health benefits you currently have, OR you might venture out into the 'free market' to see how much a policy for a 65 year old costs.....what a DEAL right? Pay through the nose or push your retirement back which will also have an extra added benefit of keeping a job from a younger person looking to enter the workforce - you know, get started on that 'generational trust' thing that worked fine for 75 and 40 years( SS and Medicare)

OR,

Maybe it will become means tested so that a program designed to prevent you becoming a burden upon your children or forcing you to face abject poverty due to health costs in your golden years will turn into a welfare program so you can listen to taunts that you are a 'welfare king or queen' because you are on Medicare.

Whatever you do - don't worry about Obama - he''ll have his gold plated health care benefits until the day he dies for doing Wall St's bidding

2. Maybe waiting 2 days at the clinic to see a doctor instead of only 1?

6. Don't forget, the clinics are shutting down simultaneously. So that extra wait is to be counted in
anyway...PLus more and mroe doctors are not taking medicare patients.

4. Means testing is doubly stupid
First, it makes it a welfare program, with the downsides you mentioned.

Second, there's very, very, very few retired people with a high income. 'Cause they're retired. So either the savings will be tiny, or the test is going to have to be very low.

7. Today on another forum
a poster said that his daughter works in the insurance industry and a notice had just come down from above and people should be forewarned that if grandma falls and breaks her hip at your house medicare will try to make your homeowners insurance cover her care. I haven't tried to substantiate that claim and I Don't know if they could make it stick, but that probably wouldn't stop them from trying.

8. I assume means testing is based on net worth, not yearly income.

11. Just a bit of oh so modest mass murder
People are already postponing needed care until they get old enough for Medicare. Adding another 2 years is a death sentence for all too many.
