6. It's what the BBC News Channel is broadcasting at the moment
so in that sense it's 'live', but you're right, the pictures at this moment are recorded from earlier in the day.

2. I'm flying to London for vacation on Friday - for selfish reasons
I really hope they stop the mayhem. I heard the city, or at least parts of it are on lockdown.

5. Keep in mind...its summer and a lot of these kids are on school holidays..

kids as young as 11 have been seen running the streets...so I expect a curfew coming to control crowds

8. Listening to BBC 94.9 FM on the internet
Callers are asking why the police aren't getting help from neighboring towns.

Someone also asked why Army hasn't been called in.

Turns out the Mayor of London and the British Prime Minister were both on vacay and are scrambling back to London.

12. thanks
I'm listening now.

I was reading people's reaction to the Mayor and PM not getting back in what they thought was a timely manner. They are not amused.

Croydon is getting it bad.

15. They are calling for police from other towns.
Croydon seems like its getting the worst of it.

The gangs have caused havoc in Notting Hill and Ealing now.

9. I was in London during the Poll Tax riots
My poor dad, a very conservative man, had gone out for a sight seeing stroll, saw a crowd and went to investigate, and ended up marching in the protest. Which was funny until the violence broke out. He managed to get out of the area before it got dangerous.

My favorite sound bite from that riot was that the peaceful demonstration was disrupted by a band of 'well organized anarchists'.
