Aboard Bachmann's 'Barbie Jet': 10 Surprising Forces Shaping Her White House Campaign
At the heart of the profile, however, is an examination of the people and experiences that have turned Bachmann into a leader of the conservative Christian movement and a viable contender for the 2012 GOP presidential field.

1. Most of the citizens will be truly fucked if Bachmann won, the true beginning of
the dark ages. The hope is some country might grant refugee status to Americans.

3. And on top of that this country was crazy enough to elect Bush twice. America
often does not play with a full deck IMO. I find it an unstable and crazy place.

7. Get it right. Bachman was NOT elected by this country. She won twice
in a conservative Minnesota district. If not for the teabagger wave and democrats sitting at home, Tarryl Clark would have beaten Bachman last November. Democrats in Bachman's district that sat home pissed off missed a prime chance to get rid of Bachman.

10. And I hope in 2012 no democrat is going to stay home and not vote. It's
got to be about the lamest thing one can do, help the others get into office by not voting.

4. Bachmann's day in the sun will fade quickly...
Perry is the new flavor of the month and will probably grab many of the bagger voters that were backing her.

I think the GOP race will be between Perry and Romney. It pits the super insane bagger block versus the moderately insane establishment block. I think Perry will win, the country is just that effed up. I'm betting Perry/Rubio versus Obama/Biden. Unfortunately, it could be close.

6. I too think it unwise to underestimate Perry
Edited on Mon Aug-08-11 06:30 PM by hlthe2b
With a compliant, enabling media that might very well hide his extremism and help him to scoop up enough low information voters, he's got a chance. When combined with the "dog whistle" crowd, this could very well give him the nomination. One would hope that there are not enough frustrated and unthinking indies to actually elect him.

9. Those indies elected Reagan...
..twice.

If the economy sucks, no matter what the reason, people tend to vote against the incumbent. We will seek to make this a "choice" election, but no matter how we try it will always end up being more a referendum on the incumbent. This why people are silly to get excited about Boehner's low ratings. They don't matter, he isn't running. The Republicans goal is simple, drag down Obama and make government look hopeless while he is in power. Yes, we would certainly win if the GOP nominated bat shit crazy Bachmann, but they won't do that. Perry is more dangerous, because he is every bit as nuts as Bachmann but doesn't look and sounds nearly as insane.

14. Her husband and her worked on the Carter campaign?
and Rick Perry worked on Al Gore's...how is that going to work with the repub base? I'm sure since the base is all evangelicals, they'll be forgiven for their sin of working with and to elect liberals!
