Senator McCaskill opposes extending unemployment benefits
(KMOV) – President Barack Obama is for extending unemployment but it may run out if Congress does not act soon to continue long-term unemployment assistance.

Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill told News 4 that she does not support extending any unemployment benefits any further.

5. The extension was never going to pass the House or a Republican filibuster in the Senate.

She is simply in campaign mode in a state that is now pretty much a solid red state instead of the bellweather purple state that it used to be. I suspect if she was not up for re-election next year, she would publicly support an extension.

8. If that is the case, she was in campaign mode from the
moment she took office. I am amazed at some of the email responses I get from this "Democrat."

11. campaign mode starts the first vote after an election
We should expect representatives to represent their district on EVERY vote. If that's what she's doing then fine. But if she changes her view in 2013 then back the next election I will have no respect for her.

Either her district wants this and she should lean that way every time or her district doesn't and she should always be against it. Or it may be an issue where she's willing to tell her district she's going to go against them (every time) but hopes they are satisfied with everything else she does. Or she could say it's an iffy issue and she'll go the way she can trade her vote for the best other option. Some representatives actually "grow" and change their vote (once). But if you're going to change because of "campaign mode" I don't like you whichever side you claim to be on. Stand for something or go home.

16. Then I would suggest
she talk with her constituents. I'll bet the majority want benefits extended. They know that millions of people with no income have no9 money to spend, and that will harm the ecomomy further, not help it.

13. Congresswoman Clay or one of the Carnahan children should primary
McCaskill. Get more uptempo people to face a republican in a race that democrats need to win and can win with one of the three saner Pols.

22. Robin Carnahan who was then Missouri Secretary of State
ran against Blunt in the last Senate election and got beat by him. I would think that Russ would be an idea as he is losing his Congressional District to redistricting and could be looking for a place to land. I believe he already announced that he is going to run again for Congress but a primary against Claire might not be such a bad idea.

14. Most likely she will lose next year. This is Missouri(swing state), she stands for nothing.
she will be easy to roll over.

Claire appears to be disingenuous at every turn. The only reason she won in 2006 is that the anti-Bush sentiment.

21. By what rationale? How would she logically explain any past votes in favor?
By what license could she in the future?

That is pretty unacceptable, she should be pressed hard on this.
