Wisconsin: In my email from State Democratic Chair Mike Tate

Thank you for being a part of this historic movement.

Playing on Republican turf, in the face of an onslaught of shady corporate cash and withstanding the full fury of the Republican dirty-tricks machine, you came out and helped us win two seats in the state Senate, doubling the number of senators who have ever been recalled in Wisconsin.

While we did not regain the majority, last night’s victory brings us a new Senate. This Senate does not pass key parts of Walker's agenda. This Senate does not take away the rights of working people. This Senate gives us two more strong, progressive women who will make sure the voices of the people are heard.

But there is still work to do.

Next week we must work to defend Jim Holperin and Bob Wirch, two courageous senators who took brave and bold steps to delay the Walker agenda.

As we saw in the days leading up to yesterday’s election, the out-of-state special interests will no doubt be pouring cash in to these districts to purchase expensive and misleading smear attacks against our senators. We have reason to believe they are particularly focused on attacking Jim Holperin and propping up his Tea Party extremist challenger.

That’s why I am asking you to sign up and volunteer to help defend Senator Holperin as he fights for the seniors, children and families of northern Wisconsin.

Thank you for all your hard work and support. Together, we will continue to fight and to move Wisconsin Forward.

P.S. - Protecting our sitting senators from recall is the next step towards fully reversing and repairing the damage done by Scott Walker and his rubberstamp Legislature. Once we return Jim Holperin and Bob Wirch to the state Senate we can begin the work to recall Scott Walker himself and to re-gain majorities in both houses of the Legislature.
