The problem here is gerrymandered districts same as in Florida.

It is actually quite impressive that we took away two supposedly "safe" Republican seats.

This is why it is important to win state legislatures and Governorships and state AG races (where elected) and Secretary of State races (where elected).

1. A solid victory.
It was a victory for the good guys. Not the triumphant victory that was hoped for, but a solid, significant victory. It was quite an uphill battle to convince districts that elected Republicans in 2008 (a banner year for Democrats) that they should now change horses in mid-stream, dump the Republican they elected, and bring in a Democrat instead. We convinced two districts, and almost convinced a third.

The media is painting it as a Republican victory because the GOP *only* lost two seats, and not three. Well, losing two state senate seats is not a victory.

The GOP's grip on the state senate is no longer secure. There is one GOP senator who's an old-fashioned Republican - that is, he's a person of integrity who tries to do what's best for his constituents. He has previously put up resistance to the Walker agenda. It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

The spirit, dedication and organization that dethroned two Republican state senators last night has a good chance of successfully recalling Walker in 2012.

3. Only in GOP la la land is losing
winning. They lost 2 seats they had. Democrats had nothing to lose here. They won 2 seats. I scanned the web and it is amazingly silent on the subject as far as saying what the loss of two seats means to the Republican agenda.

Two elections to go. One is likely a loser and the other isn't looking so hot based on yesterday.

chance we lose 1, 5% chance we lose both

36. If you have that at your fingertips
How bad was the results vs. the polls yesterday?

And while you are at it, peer into who is actually more galvanized on the results, and who showed up to vote.

Just saying.

This is not going to be pretty, as yesterday wasn't either.

13. Talk to me next week
We split next week, are you gonna jump for joy? The net effect of one seat? One seat from a guy embroiled in a personal battle.

Watch, learn and listen. It will be written how much foil and fodder this was. It disguised other states doing worse, because everyone was focused in Wisconsin and it set a precedent that likely works the other way too.

Sell me some of that you are smoking. I need it.

23. What do you mean?
They didn't bring the fight? They were part of the other side like liberals are to the Democrats. I don't understand the question I guess. But if we focused and shot our wad of resources for a net of maybe 1 seat after next week, and possibly no seat pickup - what was the gain? A diversion, probably scripted, so other states could do worse? Look around. Wisconsin was a distraction. What did we gain? NOTHING. NOTHING, but lost resources (unions are not unlimited funding machines) and another set back that further polarizes the political climate. Jeepers. It's clear to me, but I know I am in a losing battle here on this issue because everyone has their happy pants on for losing. Reality sucks. It might not only suck, but it might be devastating after Tuesday. And where's the working together after their victory. They will shove it down our collective throats. sigh.

24. If we win both
We still lost.

I am afraid it could be 2 seats lost next week. Net gain - ZERO. It is highly likely we will lose one and the net is one lousy seat. Did we focus on Indiana? New Jersey? Ohio? ect..... The list is long of states doing the same thing, or worse. Nope, they corralled the resources and energy to Wisconsin. It was scripted brilliantly methinks. I am really coming to that conclusion now. People are NOT this stupid to piss away all the rights they have, but we got collared by media and by something sinister.

15. Okay
I see the implications. I know what the ramifications are. And I see a net effect of 1, maybe no seats in the end. Great use of resources and energy. Meanwhile, behind the curtain, other states went wild. Elections have consequences. We fought against the results and then got subsequently burned. Not much good going to come from this. Watch and wait. You will see. It emboldened other state elected officials and it set a nasty precedent.

This is it folks.

Wisconsin has uncovered "the pace". Greed and the lust for power never rest. They now know this is the long fight that never rests. This is the new normal and sets the pace for recovering the american dream.

I've got a wife and a daughter that I live for. I'm in!

I hope more people realize this this.

For the "Progressive Movement. All ways faithful!".

6. Two Elephants In The Room
1) Redistricting, any wins came with a new election a year out. That doesn't matter with Shilling but that does matter with King

2) Due to change in collective bargaining laws Wisconsin unions no longer have the dues coming in like they used to. Particularly WEA which was a big spender in these races. They can't afford to piss money down the drain like they did here. They need to be a lot more strategic.

12. BS. It was the most "strategic" it could be. They targeted all they could and could not wait.
Remember, they could only recall certain ones due to how they've been in office in their current term. They knocked off two pukes in red territory. Pretty damn good.

25. Really
Its not like they are getting 4 year terms from this point on. They get 1 year. And Shilling is back at risk next year. Had they just had the patience to wait until next year to take out the adulterer it would be an immediate 4 year term. Now the GOP in Fond du Lac has time to find another candidate that is isn't as disgusting as Hopper. She's at risk when she's up again in 2012.

Fond du Lac county broke for Ron Johnson by 30 pts. It broke for Hopper by 9 pts because he's that big of a piece of ****. Taking him out early and you don't even get the 4 years for beating the guy.

And Kapanke is Blue territory not Red. I know I lived in La Crosse. I'll pull the numbers if you want to.

It's enough of a gain to have a respectable voice in the business of the state.

I think the depression on the part of some is just like the depression people have after they take exams.

But it is too early to be depressed. There is another election next week, as I understand it.
