Sen. Franken's newsletter
"Not raising the debt limit would have hurt too many Minnesotans, so I reluctantly voted for the compromise package."

This is the second reluctant vote. Three reluctant votes and Democrats strike out. Game over.
Oh wait, did they even take a swing yet?

"Ultimately, the deal does ensure that people all over Minnesota who depend on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid will continue to receive their benefits, which is one of the main reasons I supported it."

Who's right? Al or Bernie? Bernie said, "The mandate for this 12 member Super
Committee is to look at EVERY program of the federal government and come up with
$1.5 trillion more in savings. This means that, at a time when the
Republicans and an increased number of Democrats are calling for major cuts in
Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, all of these programs will be on the
chopping block."

I have to believe Bernie. Bernie didn't sign the letter to Obama along with 32 Republicans and 31 other Democrats encouraging Obama to follow the catfood commission recommendations; specifically "entitlement changes".

1. I'm not surprised Klobuchar signed the letter
but I'm disappointed Franken did & he's too smart not to see what's coming. And all the nice speeches he's given about how his wife's family would never have gotten by after her dad died if not for Social Security Survivor Benefits.

I agree with you - believe Bernie.

2. I'm with Bernie and my own Senator Merkley
Al needs to understand that there is no place in the history books for that asterisk they use in baseball to say 'reluctantly'. His choices are yes or no, and yes means he approves of the bill, period. History records that Senator Franken said 'yes, a Super Committee is a good idea'. That is how it is. His reluctance is of absolutely no importance.
