3. That was never substantiated.
It was reported as being a "push back" which by the time word had spread on twitter and BBM had become a full mullering. That was the event which started the Tottenham riot.

6. Hi to you too
This really is a horrible situation over here compounded at times at finding out what the truth really is. In some respects social media is doing more harm than good. Even some of the looters have found to their horror - its changed simple charges of breaking and entering and maybe just a wrist slap at the Magistrates into, following use of social media to help organise, aggravated burglary at the Crown Courts which has far higher penalties.

9. I will never understand how people can be so stupid to believe
that their own words won't incriminate them. Stupid people deserve the consequences of their stupidity. I saw one youngster posing with his loot for FB. Mindless consumerism was the phrase I saw in one of the Guardian articles and it describes them perfectly.

For some time I have worried that youngsters who will kill for a peer's sneakers or cell phone have long confused what is important with what is advertised as 'must have' on TV.

17. Finding out the truth of the situation can be a challenge.
For instance, there was all sorts of rumours flying about concering riot on London Road, Sheffield on Tuesday night but when I went up there on the way home from work that night nowt was happening (thankfully!)

However, the most accurate souce of information about this on Tuesday night turned out to be Twitter. Twitter has also played a major role in organizing the riot clean ups so I don't think the right course of action is for the government to crack down on social networking websites.

22. Cracking down on social networks and widening 'sus' laws

is going to spark things..2012 Olympics are just around the corner...they were promised jobs, nothing has materialized..I'm going to watch for things to spark again.

The actual protest where whatever occurred was in daylight last Saturday.

Proof that that is the one can be seen on the right hand poster "Justice for Mark"

23. Its specifically says the incident with the girl
occurred c. 8.30pm and that was still daylight here. That video is a bluff using a later event.

If I walked up to one of our police, on my own , and started giving him yap, yap, yap a few inches from his face he WOULD push me away.

21. I saw some earlier reports in local London papers

and then nothing after that...but anyway, I'm headed over there today, I'll find out from the locals rather than the media what actually took place..
