Arctic ice melt could pause for several years, then resume again
Although Arctic sea ice appears fated to melt as the climate continues to warm, the ice may temporarily stabilize or somewhat expand at times over the next few decades, new research indicates.

This will of course send the denialists into transports of delight and will elicit from them smug declarations of global cooling.

1. And monkeys could fly outa my.......you know.
THEY make a rosy prediction and then just disappear. This allows the dumbots to "feel good" about the climate situation and go back to their Nascar. Meanwhile, we acidify the oceans and kill off all the marketable fish, etc. Too much CO2 is going to screw up our environment. Period. Fix it!

2. I don't think that was meant as a rosy prediction
Or that NCAR scientists do hit-and-run science.

3. Lot of leaning on the word "could" in that release.
A lot of things could happen. But I'm sure the http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2011/aug/08/tdmet01-bill-lohmann-tangier-island-fights-for-its-ar-1224182/">residents of Tangier Island in the Chesapeake Bay will not be comforted by the findings of this study.
