Americanselect.org....Good idea or ????
I learned of this last night on the Colbert Show. It sounded interesting so I ventured to their web sight and answered a bunch of questions..From what I could tell I fall pretty much in line with most that have responded to either these questions or similar ones. This is not supposed to be partisan and the people are supposed to pick a candidate to be on the ballot in all fifty states come November...If it works like its represented to work this could build a truer form of Democracy here..Supposedly the candidate chosen will not be subject to electoral college so will be chosen entirely by the people..I didn't choose to be a delegate but asked to be kept informed. Anyone else have any feelings about this?

2. What are you talking about?
 There is nothing about compromising with anyone.. It is about the things that are important to you and finding people that are aligned with you to represent you...

6. Why is it crazy?
Many want a better alternative to what we have now (a bunch of corporate dogs on the take).

3. I thought it looked interesting. Certainly more democratic than the crazy

nomination process we have now. But supposedly there are a bunch of hedge fund types financing it...I suppose it could be a scam of some sort.

But aren't the parties we have pretty full of shit? Probably no worse.

5. I'm looking into it, as well. We need a huge pressure group to put pressure
on all party members in the House and Senate. Democratic ideals that cross party lines.

9. Nice concept, but obscure ownership and no security measures.

They say something like if you have questions, feel free. So, I asked a lot of questions. Like these:

1. They paid a lot of money for that slick website. Who funds them?
2. Who is on their board of directors?
3. Who is their CEO?
4. What organizations are involved?
5. What prevents the results from being corrupted? They say all eligible voters can participate, then they do nothing to verify that a person is "eligible," nor that they aren't voting 50,000 times with 50,000 different sign on names!
6. What are they doing to prevent a hacker from corrupting the results to their liking?

Anything that you "vote" on over the internet is corruptible with the current architecture of the world wide web. Period. It's got too many security holes in it, and they aren't forthcoming about who put them into existence and who their current leadership is. In other words, even if 100,000 people participate they can make the results be anything they want them to be and say it is the opinion of 100,000 people!!
