2. Van Hollen's

head of the DCCC and the ranking member of the budget committee. Becerra's on Ways and Means. Clyburn's assistant leader, and chair of the House Democratic caucus. None of these people are particularly obscure.

One black guy, one white guy, one Hispanic.

3. Van Hollen is another fundraiser (along the same lines as Murray).
We know who he'll represent....

5. You were expecting...
Kucinich, Kaptur, and Jackson-Lee, right?

You can be disappointed, but unless you live in a cave, you can't be surprised.

7. So long as 21%...
...of people polled self-identify as liberal, this is going to be the rule, and not the exception.

That can be changed -- but it'll take between 25 and 50 years.

11. That's because every Republican member of the committee...
...is a Republican. They don't have a non-right wing.

4. Clyburn is Senior Fellow at Third Way
His mission is NOT to save SS or Medicare...but wants to "reform it"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=103x617879#617897

Their position:

“But to finish the job, the next steps toward such a bargain must involve tough choices on both sides – Republicans must be willing to throw out their pledges and support an increase in revenues; Democrats must tell their core supporters that the only way to save entitlements like Medicare and Social Security is to reform them. Both options must be on the table immediately, and neither side should view their absence in the current deal as an opportunity to declare them off-limits. A grand bargain is the only way for the United States to avoid a downgrade, get our fiscal house in order and protect crucial investments so that we can secure long-term growth. It will be difficult. But in the coming months, Congress must decide if we are to be a AAA or a AA nation.

13. "Our side"...
...is about a fifth of the country. Why would the more representative of the two Houses of Congress be any different?

14. Only a 5th of the country will need social security and medicare to get by?
Yes, there might be only about the fifth of the country that is smart enough to realize that the powerful in this country are destroying the middle class. But when I said our side I wasn't talking about liberals, I was talking about regular american people whatever their political ideology happens to be.
