Rep. Barney Frank: NPR cut me off because they didn’t like my argument
More at: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/08/11/rep-barney-frank-npr-cut-me-off-because-they-didnt-like-my-argument/

After three decades in Congress, it's understandable that Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) has a lot to say — too much to say, according to NPR.

Frank gave an interview to Morning Edition Tuesday morning, and host Steve Inskeep had to interrupt Frank, he said, to cut back to local stations. Frank told Raw Story in a phone interview Thursday that he had been cut short because he was advocating for cutting military spending and advocating for saving entitlement programs.

"It wasn't just that it got short that was the issue," Frank said. "It was when it got cut short."

Frank, known for being talkative, said that he's been abruptly cut off in interviews before.

3. I was surprised when I listened yesterday.
The reporter was talking about the IBEW strike at Verizon. "Striking over the traditional issues, more pay". You could hear the eye-roll.

They didn't used to be like this.

I haven't listened since they had David Horowitz do Howard Zinn's obit. That was the last damn straw for me.

4. It was Sneering Steve Inskeep who always makes it blatantly obvious...
...which side of the issue he's on in any interview
that he does; he's a disgrace!

6. national propaganda radio.
thank dog my local affiliate (wbez) is still what a public radio station is supposed to be. but i hate it that a big chunk of the support that i give them goes to npr. they are weeding out the npr programming, tho. more pri, more other sources, and more repeats of the local programming.

w sent the foxes into this henhouse, and we have the burnt fried chicken that is the intended result.

18. Not at all. It was quite objective until the Chimp's
second administration when he installed a "Brownie" type to gut it and bring it to heel. Very fair minded in those days.

14. Me too.
Try to start a movement to get a Pacifica station where you live.

Check them out on the internet.

Democracy Now is a Pacifica show as is Ian Master's show.

12. Steven Innskeep is a right wing media whore who constantly interrupted Barney Frank, and then asked
him an overly complicated question with the quip "less than 20 seconds left," to which Frank responded, "you shouldn't be asking me complicated questions with only 20 seconds left."

Where Emmanuel Cleaver last week was ill-prepared and so lost that Inskeep had him supporting right wing talking points and arguments, Barney Frank went toe-to-toe with Media Whore Innskeep and told him how the cow ate the cabbage.

It was brilliant.

28. Innskeep did an outstandingly rude interview of President Obama a while back.
It was an attempt at classic "gotcha" journalism, laden with interruptions. Very unprofessional.

My opinion is that All Things Considered is the more unbiased program. Morning Edition has all the RW pundits and talking points.

13. Here is what was cut out:
"I think in this case it was compounded by the fact that he didn't like what I was saying," Frank said. "This is a big establishment era, and I'm on a major crusade to say, 'wait a minute, don't tell me that we have bases in western Europe defending Germany and France from who knows what, but I have to tell some old lady that she's going to have to wait to get Medicare."

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/08/11/rep-barney-frank-npr-cut-me-off-because-they-didnt-like-my-argument/

Having lived in the European countries he mentions, I totally agree with Frank.

The only reason that we would want troops in Europe would be to intimidate them into paying the money that they should not owe us in the first place -- for the securities that our bankers fraudulently sold them.

Barney Frank should go on Pacifica Radio and talk to Ian Masters. Or on Democracy Now. Guests get a chance to finish their thoughts on Pacifica.

doesn't even amount to a feather in the GOP cap, really, it's just a reflection of how the balance of power has shifted.

if you don't have the time for it...words to that effect.

it stopped us in our tracks, which is hard to do in the morning routine, er mad dash out the door.

26. "Windy" pols need to make their important points early in the interview
Take control of the interview like republicans do..

They have to fill time, so they would probably not end an interview too early:)
