New right-wing meme: Obama knows how to fix the economy, but he just won't do it
Common been starting to hear a new meme out there. Basically, the line is that fixing the economy is not that hard to do. Obama knows what it would take to fix it, but he won't do it because he is ideologically opposed to capitalism; because he wants the economy to fail (all the better to make you dependent on welfare, my pretties!); because he George Soros and his other "handlers" won't let him; or for other reasons.

I have heard this on talk radio. Here are a couple variations I have seen on the web:

The only way President Barack Obama can solve the nation’s economic woes is to adopt “common-sense” Reaganomics, the policy’s architect Arthur Laffer claims in an exclusive Newsmax interview.

Laffer said the White House called him in the spring and asked him to speak to Obama’s former Council of Economic Advisors’ chairman Austen Goolsbee – and he had told him exactly the same thing.

“Reaganomics would fix any economy that’s in the doldrums,” Laffer said. “It’s not a magic sauce, it’s common sense.

Are you as exhausted as am I from hearing ‘journalists’ and supposed expert talking heads telling us “If only Obama would X (you fill in your own solution) he would put us back on the right track toward beginning to save our economy” or asking “Why doesn’t Obama do “Y” to help the economy?” The problem with these comments and questions is the presupposition that the dictator-in-chief actually wants to save the United States of America. That assumption is false.

The first step in recognizing and then correcting any problem is the proper identification of the problem. Thus far, none of the media have been willing to do so. Instead, as has been so for decades, their paychecks and ’desirable’ cocktail party invitations appear to hinge upon the spreading of lies for the ruling politicos and elites. So, it seems that they, too, believe they will benefit from the destruction of the USA. Apparently, they have either never heard (or have rejected outright) the accurate assessment “although the crocodile may eat you last…it will, nonetheless, eat you sooner or later.”

3. Arthur Laffer? Did he get disinterred or something?
Yeah, voodoo economics is just what we need. Aren't the Bush (now Obama) tax cuts and ever-rising defense spending right out of Mr. Laffer's supply side text book? Where are the jobs, Arthur? We've been following your prescription for the last 10 years and the economy is sicker than ever.

4. Reaganomics is what is being done.

What better way to confuse the most uninformed population on earth than to pretend he is doing liberal or progressive remedies when he is not.

5. If Obama actually campaigned for what it would take to fix the economy, the GOP would impeach him.
There's ONE thing that has worked historically to turn around economic downturns, again and again: MORE GOVT SPENDING. And the bigger the downturn, the more spending is needed.

6. I think there is some truth to that argument. If he looked up Liberal economics
and read the article he would know. If he didn't know before he was elected then he had a very poor education. Present.
