I'd like to know how the fuck Rick Perry became the Tea Party candidate...
Some dumbass named Mark Murray on MSNBC a few minutes ago was talking about how Rick Perry is the Tea Party candidate and will have the Tea Party machine behind him

He has never run as a Tea Party candidate and the last fucking time Rick Perry ran for office he was the REPUBLICAN nominee.

1. The Tea Party is part of the Republican Party. Rick Perry joined forces
with the Tea Party in recent years. That makes him both a Republican and a Tea Partier.

The Tea Party is frighteningly big here in Texas. It's scary. Lots of funding money here for it (lots of rich Texans).

8. Well, said.
But let me add, please, that Rick Perry wants to be President so bad that he would sell his own mother if he thought it would further his cause. He'll "friend" anyone (including the Tea Baggers, etc.) if he thinks they will vote for him. He will say exactly what they want to hear.

9. yup, nothing more than a political opportunist...
when he saw texas going red, he switched parties.

when he saw that the religious right was gaining in power, he suddenly goes on his god crusade. (by the way, after his little prayer what ever the hell it was, I wasn't sure if he was running for prez or pope)

the goes were ever the political winds blow. he has zero integrity and is about as bright as a 3 watt bulb.

14. Nevermind the Tea Party education I didn't need, THIS, what you just
said, is the best post in this thread.

You've explained it. And, as a Texas resident, I would expect no less from Rick Perry. However, it's the media's shaping of elections that has me steamed. What is it with the media and Tea Party? And why can they not admit that Ron Paul, according to all honest accounts and post-debate polls, was the winner of the debate?

Those are actually rhetorical questions. I'm blowing steam.

20. I merely meant that everyone seems to want to school me about the Tea Party...
in this thread. I already know about the Tea Part... er ... sorry, teabaggers.

My question wasn't "What is a teabagger", or "what is a Tea Party". My question was how does the media all of a sudden have someone who has never run as a Tea Party candidate become THE teabagger candidate?

Your post above explains it. He's an opportunist.

But my post goes more to how the media manipulates people's thinking and by doing so influences very important elections and nearly every single time lately whoever the media chooses ends up being the winner no matter how dumbfounding the result is or how dumb/crazy the candidate is.

Hell, even though Ron Paul trounced every other dumbass on that debate stage, they summarily dismiss him EVEN THOUGH HE IS THE PEOPLE'S (right-wing) CHOICE.

I'm obviously not communicating my frustration effectively here. My mind is just completely blown by the absurdity of life in the United States these days.

And, BTW, I could never see any reason why I would insult you. We agree on almost every single point that I can see so far being here.

it was more the construction of your first sentence that threw me.

I believe fox news and the like get their marching orders from various high level right wing contributors who dictate what is to be said and how things are to be crafted in regards to right wing messengering. No big surprise, but given that fact that the right wing is riding a tide of anti-government stupidity from the base, they believe that any candidate labeled as a "teabagger" will be the winner.

So anyone that actually stands for what is perceived to be traditional "tea party" type platform aka libertarianism, but is also serving as an elected politician, is part of the problem. aka paul

however, while perry is also a serving politician, he's "outside" the system because he's not in washington.

beyond the obvious irony is the fact that all of them get their marching orders from the right wing.

so perry because perry is much more photogenic the paul, and has show wanton stupidity with his rhetoric and is well known to be easily manipulated when it comes to corporate contributions, perry now becomes the de-facto tea party candidate.

they are all of the same stripe, but the reality is, it's a macho popularity contest, where content and substance matters little, but pseudo anger and faux snubbing of washington is works better as a platform to bring in the mouth breathing teabagger support.

I'm in a bit of a rush, but I hope that sort of answers your question.

6. There is no real Tea Party...
The Tea Party is just the most right wing segment of the Republican party. The grass roots conservatives simply organized themselves extremely effectively, gave themselves the Tea Party name, and have made a point of voting as a block in primaries at every opportunity to nominate the most conservative candidates they can find. It has actually been a very effective strategy.

18. I know what the Tea Party is. I guess I just didn't communicate my
OP effectively. There didn't used to be a Tea Party and Rick Perry has NEVER run as a Tea Party candidate. Now, we're going to get a Tea Party presidential candidate? Even after what just happened in Congress and with our credit rating and all of it?

I don't want to see the fucking teabaggers gain any legitimacy whatsoever and now they're going to have a presidential nomimee???

Kill me now!
