50 gather to protest Redding police shooting
About 50 friends and family members of a man who was shot by police last week in Redding gathered today in a protest outside the Shasta County courthouse.

The protestors carried signs along Court Street that said “Murdered by law enforcement” and “I’m a Native American with a bad past. Are you going to shoot me too?”

Kenneth Ray Wilson, 41, a Pit River Indian with a history of violent crimes, was killed by police Aug. 4 in a shootout on South Market Street.

“Our family’s been through a lot these last couple weeks,” said Phillip Potter, Wilson’s brother and one of the protestors. He said Wilson’s funeral was this week and the family has been holding memorials since the shooting. Another family member died just a few days before the shooting, he said.

2. So he was wanted for felony warrants, and he shot at police, and they are suprised he got shot?
Sorry, but the second you start shooting at police, you loose sympathy from me. Maybe 40 shots was excessive, but who knows, if 5 officers are shooting, and a few miss, and he is still resisting, then I can see how so many shots were fired.

The only person to blame for this is the person who was killed. He could have not resisted arrest, and go peacefully and have his day in court, but he choose otherwise.
