Obama is a shoo in for reelection.
I watched about 30 minutes of the republican pile up. And I already know perry. So the powers that be have determined that there will be another 4 years for Obama.

He doesn't have to shore up his base. The republicans are doing that for him.

He doesn't have to do anything even remotely progressive. Fear will take care of that.

Just keep getting the big money and don't piss off the timid white people. A ahoo in.

13. Yeah. Damn those liberals.
How can we keep this from happening. Maybe we could actually try to fight for the things in the Democratic Platform. Nah. Let's just go with money and fear. We can always blame the liberals if the Democrats lose.

45. The Democratic party has always been to the left of the Rethugs. It still is.
But the Democratic party is made up of leftists, moderates, and even some centrists; while the Rethug party is more and more skewed to the far right.

It's a misconception to think that the party consists only of liberals; or that the President can easily accomplish liberal goals while the Rethugs hold the House and enough votes to filibuster anything in the Senate.

If they didn't NEED the Progressive vote, they would have kicked us to the curb years ago when they decided to embrace the Blue Dogs. And look where the Blue Dogs have taken us.... :( They're so much better than Progressives. :eyes:

24. They are crunching numbers.
Whatever happens, they won't actually do anything progressive, because that would cost them corporate dollars. They would like to just tell us to bugger off, but they need to see if they think they can get it without our work and support. Depending on what the numbers tell them, liberals will be told to shut the hell up or there will be some nice speeches and promises. Of course they always have whatever bugaboo the republicans nominate to scare the bejeeberrs our of us. That's why I think that the worse the republican nominee, the more the powers that be decided they wanted Obama for four more. Given the band of yahoos and wackos that they are fielding, I figure the big guys are giving Obama another turn at bat. He's been hitting clean up for them so well.

If things are no better than now he is toast. If unemployment is around 8% and getting better with a GDP around 3% he will probably be Ok.
