Tottenham Hotspurs supporters club is lovingly known as The Yid Army. That was a derogatory name the other London Clubs gave them which they subsequently adopted for themselves. I guess if he'd known that the "Nitwit" might have blamed them anyway.

I hadn't realised until I searched just now that the riots spread even further south on the Saturday, than Wood Green from Tottenham , into Stamford Hill itself. Stamford Hill is one of two mainly Jewish areas the other being at a guess Golders Green. From memory Stamford is mainly Ultra Orthies and Lubaviches - I wouldn't want to upset that lot but can see that the Hassidic community themselves reportedly gathered in the street on Saturday in Tottenham to heckle police.
