An End-Timer, A Secessionist and a Mormon (all of them Xian wackos)
as his remaining possible R opponents and we wonder why Team Obama doesn't seem to be doing more to insure victory in 2012.

Word to the wise: don't take anything for granted.

6. The LDS describes itself as Christian
even though most other Christians don't see them as such because of the LDS theology.

18. They can say what they want. NO Mainstream Christian theologist accepts the LDS extra-Biblical
post-Columbian claims.

NOT TO MENTION that Mormonism teaches that MEN SHALL BECOME GODS WITH THEIR OWN PLANETS.

Not "like gods"; GODS.

24. Well, it's not like mainstream Christianity makes any sense either.
Believing a guy came back from the dead and will do so again, and that his mom got knocked up by the deity, and so on ... it's all on the spectrum of nutty.

7. X means Christ.
"X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as "Christ".

23. No, used today by those
who are in too much of a hurry to type "Christ."

Christians need to stop feeling persecuted, especially over piddly things like this.

26. "Christians need to stop feeling persecuted"
Many of them can't - they feel it is a requirement of their religion; that if they aren't being persecuted in some way they must not be doing it right. So often they'll invent persecution where none exists. Such as the case of using an abbreviation for Christ that their own church leaders came up with.

"Christians need to stop feeling persecuted..."

Oh dear. I had no idea I was feeling collectively persecuted. Thanks for the heads up.

Always good to hear what other people think I need. Granted, it's dismissed as a simple bumper-sticker philosophy far more often than not, but it's still good to hear. I'm certain your genteel and tolerant suggestion will be given all the credit it's due...

38. Christians. I use the "x" as a shorthand, like Xmas. Saves time.
No scorn intended, though if a Xian feels scorned by my shorthand use, I'm OK with that. Xian beliefs should be scorned. Xians themselves deserve some sympathy and understanding for living under such a crippling delusion.

Jews don't recognize Jesus as the Messiah.

Protestants don't recognize the authority of the Pope.

Southern Baptists don't recognize each other at the liquor store.

Edited on Mon Aug-15-11 01:40 PM by KamaAina
based on their interpretation of Revelations.

At last count, there were over 14 million Mormons worldwide. Not very good odds, but then again, they do own a sizable chunk of Vegas.

Edit:

According to this:

it is just the J-W's that believe the 144k thing.

I always wondered why they recruit then...

21. No, it's JWs
But there's a whole lot of weird, wacky Mormon "faith promoting rumors" which are not canonized as doctrine (so church leaders can deny them), yet never denied by church leadership. These rumors include the "White Horse Prophecy". Google that term if you can stomach it. They think Mitt is the fulfillment of that prophecy.

Edited on Mon Aug-15-11 01:52 PM by Lone_Star_Dem
When their membership exceeded the 144,000 mark they started saying the remainder were the meek and they would inherit the earth. It's always seemed to me like they were surprised that so many people were willing to subscribe to their beliefs.

They also used to say the world was going to end in 1914 (I'm pretty sure that's the correct year anyway). Imagine their dismay when it kept right on going? That's the problem with being shortsighted, sometimes it comes back to bite you in the butt. :D
