Free speech allows blasphemy, of course. We cherish Free Speech here in the United States. As a liberal secularist - I thank Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut, and any other humanist who has helped the cause.

I have not been feeling good today and he got the brunt of it. I told him that I had spent the last 50 years of my life fighting the use of derogatory personal name calling and I was pissed that he and others like him were now giving everyone the encouragement to start doing it again.

We see it all the time in the posters of the Tbaggers and the talk of rw idiots. And we just let it slide. Back when we were fighting this we would have never let them get by with it - we would have called them out. So today I called my liberal grandson out for encouraging the use of it. If he is mad at me - too bad. It is his lose.

I do not plan to back down simply because it helps the cause. I think we can have free speech and civility at the same time.

We do not condone personal insults - especially among teens.

We merely ask that secularists and rationalists have the right to publish and speak to others of like mind who purchase or attend our events.
