Woman can't find remote, calls police

GREELEY, Colo. - A Greeley woman called police after she couldn't find her television remote control - and they showed up to help her look for it.

It happened on July 27, when the woman - who doesn't want to be identified - told police she thought she'd been burglarized. The missing item? Just one: her remote control.

"I don't like to misplace things, I like to know where everything is," she said. "I want to have a place for everything and I want everything in its place."

On that day in July, the woman said she just couldn't find her remote control. .............(more)

6. Depends on the municipality.
Not all areas have laws billing people for unnecessary 911 usage.

4. Well, of course! The police are the first ones to call when you can't locate remote, keys, glasses,
etc.

11. Reminds me of an eppisode of Cops
A lady flags down the police and tell them that she was just robbed. The police stop to question the lady and she tells the cops that she had given the suspect $20 for some crack cocain, and he failed to deliver the product to her.

12. Don't laugh...
Before we had the Internets to create links for this, some asshole on the East Coast who'd been getting overly-cut dope from his dealer took the bag he just bought to the police station. He wanted them to test the dope to be sure it was of the quality he desired.

I don't know if it was of high quality, but it had enough dope in it to get his stupid ass thrown in jail.

15. Old Army story follows...
I've told this one before here but it's still funny.

In the unit I was in at Fort Campbell, our ground surveillance radar company's commander directed his first sergeant to have the squad leaders inspect the barracks rooms. One guy opened his troop's sock drawer and found some marijuana between the green ones and the black ones. And as you'd expect, this being a soldier in the Army with a Secret security clearance, the squad leader turned the troop in.

A few days later, the troop went before the commander for his punishment. The commander pulled out the typed-up DA Form 2627 and read with a flourish, "Private so-and-so, I am considering punishing you under the provisions of Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice, for the offense of possession of two marijuana cigarettes."

Oh fuck. This kid went OFF..."sir, I had a whole bag of dope. That mother fucker STOLE MY DOPE!"

I never did hear what happened to the mother fucker that stole his dope, but I assume he was court-martialed.

22. I knew a dumbass who did just that...couldn't find the coke he
hid in his room, reported a theft of cash figuring to let the police conduct the investigation. When they found out who did it, he would take it from there. Seemed like a good idea in his fogged-up mind.

10. I hope she at least looked in the two most obvious places first.
The dishwasher and the freezer. That's where my lost phone/remotes/misc. misplaced items usually are.

16. How old was she?
It's pretty common for people who are starting to experience dementia to misplace things and then believe that they have been stolen, rather than admit that they are forgetting where they've put things. If the police knew this and had previous experience with the woman, that could explain why they came out and helped to look for the item, as an excuse to check on her.

17. She may have dimentia.
I have an elderly relative with mild dimentia who misplaces things and then assumes someone has burgled her house. When the items turn up she thinks the burglar brought them back. She can't help it. Maybe that's this other lady's problem too.

24. My grandmother lived in a sleepy little village. She hired a local caterer one time and offered
to pick her up. The lady said no thanks, I take the bus into the village, walk to the local police station and they drive me to where I'm going.
