Anybody here seen my old friend Abraham? He freed a lot of people...

The last high-quality photograph of Lincoln was taken March 1865.

I am glad to know that there is a system of labor where the laborer can strike if he wants to. I wish to God that such a system prevailed all over the world.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN, speech, Mar. 5, 1860

Dion - Abraham, Martin And John Lyrics

Has anybody here seen my old friend Abraham?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
You know, I just looked around and he's gone.

Anybody here seen my old friend John?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked around and he's gone.

Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked 'round and he's gone.

Didn't you love the things that they stood for?
Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?
And we'll be free
Some day soon, and it's a-gonna be one day ...

Anybody here seen my old friend Bobby?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
I thought I saw him walkin' up over the hill,
With Abraham, Martin and John.

2. That was beautiful.

I used to have such a teenage crush on Dion back when I was in junior high, when he was with the Belmonts. I had pictures of him taped to my bedroom wall. "Where or When" used to give me chills.

I was so proud of him when he made "Abraham, Martin & John," such a reflective, heartfelt song. It was such a change from "Teenager in Love" or "Runaround Sue." We all grew up a lot in those years between 1958 and 1968.
