Thousands camp out overnight for job fair: 20 treated for heat exhaustion
and this is what it's come to.

Thousands of unemployed waited overnight, camping out in their business suits and office heels and braving the tormenting heat in Atlanta to stand in line for a job fair Thursday. Authorities treated 20 people for heat exhaustion as they struggled to keep the line moving and get people moved inside.

The incredible turnout at the job fair comes on the heels of the state labor commissioner's announcement that Georgia's jobless rate rose.

The state unemployment rate increased to 10.1 percent in July from the 9.9 percent in June. The unemployment rate for African-Americans stands at 15.9 percent, far above the national rate of 9.1 percent.

July marks the 48th consecutive month that Georgia has exceeded the national unemployment rate.

1. FWIW, this job fair was put together by John Lewis (D)
We've had record breaking temps all summer, and things should have been planned better to keep people from getting ill.

But Lewis, as far as I know, is the only rep who is trying to get these folks back to work. I give him props for that.

My republican rep is awol. He's not even doing his phony phone townhalls.

And lines like this is NOT unusual in Georgia. Our unemployment rate just jumped over 10 again. Labor office parking lots are still overflowing. The state is doing f*ck-all to help the chronic unemployment problems.

Oh wait, Gov Deal stopped an automatic increase in the gas taxes. And expects huge kudos for that.

3. Isn't this the jobs fair that Congressman Alan West
recommended to his unemployed brother, right after he bashed the people running it?

5. It's being discussed on MSNBC right now.
It was the Atlanta fair. They interviewed his brother, who was not amused by his brother's rhetoric. They elected the wrong brother, imo.
