Non Sequitur Toon: How's that economy doing?

it's not simply the bad economy that is killing the newspapers (like this toons fictional "Daily Gazette").

They are the victims (sadly) of changing technology and changing tastes. People don't read newspapers anymore.

I wish that the reporters were all still writing stories and investigating things, and that the educated public was interested in reading it (via Ipads or whatever). But I fear that this lack of interest in journalism is all part of the "dumbing down of America" that the fascists on the right seem to be intent on accomplishing.

This toon misses the mark on the "booming economy". But accurately reflects the sad state of old newspapers and journalism in America.

The business oriented columnists, being republican and all, really do think the economy is doing well. After all, they are still getting theirs.
