listening to the Hartman show

and the two right wingers are amazing... talking point, after talking point, after talking point, after talking point. Lower taxes, blah, lower taxes, blah. lower taxes, blah...

This is so damn predictable... but also damn sad, We really cannot talk to them and they cannot talk to us. This is how divided we are.

...since (at least) I was 14 and first expressed my opposition to the Vietnam war in 1969. Even most of the names they call us are still the same.

They've heard it over and over so much, they shut off their ears if someone debates a nuance. Ask one sometime how much they pay in federal taxes each year. Most have someone prepare their taxes, and have no real idea. They've been programmed to protect the queen bee to keep the Republican hive safe from outside predators.

Think about it. Do you know within $500 how much Uncle Sam keeps each year of your hard earned money? I'd have to go look it up myself.

and also we are the exception in believing taxes are the fee for civilized society.

And I realize just how much of an exception we are. BIL and SIL... they are hard core RW... they were ranting about taxes... I asked that question... well too much... how is too much? She just sat there... as you said, she actually could not put a number on it.

And I was good, we were only going to be there for three hours, so we behaved.
