Santorum: Same-Sex Marriage Helped Destroy The Economy
http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/santorum-same-sex-marriage-helped-destroy-economy-0

Yesterday, Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum appeared on Today’s Issues on American Family Radio, along with the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins and the American Family Association’s Tim Wildmon, to discuss the Ames Straw Poll. After celebrating his fourth place finish in the straw poll, Santorum told Perkins and Wildmon that marriage equality, or what he calls the “redefinition of marriage,” secular government and legal abortion are responsible for the country’s economic collapse and created “a society that’s broken”:

Santorum: Letting the family break down and in fact encouraging it and inciting more breakdown through this whole redefinition of marriage debate, and not supporting strong nuclear families and not supporting and standing up for the dignity of human life. Those lead to a society that’s broken.

If you think that we can be a society that kills our own, and that disregards the family and the important role it plays, and doesn’t teach moral values and the important role of faith in the public square, and then expect people to be good, decent and moral when they behave economically, if you look at the root cause of the economic problems that we’re dealing with on Wall Street and Main Street I might add, from 2008, they were huge moral failings. And you can’t say that we’re gonna take morality out of the public square, morality out of our schools, God out of our schools, and then expect people to behave decently in a country that requires, capitalism requires some strong modicum of moral consciousness if it’s gonna be successful.

1. Any potential presidential candidate should be required to have a psychiatric
evaluation and the results made public.

2. Wow! Just how many financial industry people are gay and support marriage equity?
I assume a plurality since it was the banks that did this to us.

3. Sounds like Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
If you twist and turn and do the hokey-pokey in enough directions, anything can be shown to have a relationship to anything else.

Santorum---sanitorium, hey, just a few letters added and it already gets us to where he belongs.

4. I believe he and his wife had a late term abortion to save her life
But he is against that for everyone else

I believe that that one abortion is the true cause of the collapse of American society

14. Close
They induced labor and the baby died soon after it was born. They didn't get one of those procedures the RW calls "partial birth abortion."

15. FIRST of all, Ricky,
Edited on Sat Aug-20-11 04:58 PM by Volaris
Capitalism isn't SUPPOSED to have any moral compass other than the bottom-line profit motive, and any attempt to achieve such an end (through governmental regulation and oversight) is systemically derided by you and yours and "evil" dirty communism, and is therefore IMMORAL, (right?) so THAT earns you a great, big fuck-off right there.

SECONDLY, you bigoted little fuck, why don't you just come right out and say what you REALLY think: that its the blacks who are having the abortions, cause god knows that lilly-white, jezuz-loving christians would NEVER consider such a thing (except for you and your wife, but I guess we are not talking about how YOUR partner got to choose life--HER OWN--but again, were not talking about the 'good' christians, are we?)

THIRD, and this goes to the heart of the ideal "nuclear family" lifestyle that came out of the 50's that you so seem to idealize-
It was bullshit then, its bullshit NOW and it is NOT how human beings spent the last 100 thousand years of our biological and social evolution as we rose through the ranks to become the species that actually runs this planet, and since you seem to be a complete idiot on the subject, I'll go ahead and educate you a bit....

The age of the nuclear family was, firstly, a reaction to the necessary trauma that WWII inflicted upon an entire generation of young men and women; it was, (I have come to believe, anyway) a kind of national catharsis. It was each survivors little "piece of peace", if you will, an artificially constructed social reality that allowed that generation to deal with the psychological trauma of the war, and it was by necessity, a method of insulating our individual lives form the issues of greater society, and its not the Human model for how to raise a family. The HUMAN model for how to raise a family is based on GROUP interaction, extended family systems, and ALL of the adults in that family taking responsibility for the raising of ALL that groups children. In that model, having a gay cousin bob in the family isn't something to fear, because gay cousin bob still has a role to play in whether your kids SURVIVE, let alone thrive in a society where more than one idea or set of standards is allowed. It really does "take a village", you moron, but the lifestyle you so idealize as the "Perfect 'Umerka" completely ignores this model of personal growth and development, in favor of one that is, again, (I'll admit necessary at the time) EXclusive to the ideas or needs of others, rather than INclusive of extended family and its impact on the health of society as a whole.

So go fuck yourself, Rick, 'cause you DON'T know what you're talking about. You are simply pining for the repressions of your elders, (more than likely because without adequate male initiation systems, the broken gods that were our fathers become the models of ALL our gods) without realizing that those repressions are a societal ANOMALY in American Culture, and not only are they far, far removed from the history of the norm, but they are a set of societal values that have been rejected by subsequent generations for being EXACTLY what they were: a cathartic values system that was truly needed by the survivors, but is no longer necessary.

Its not the ignorant of the world that piss me off, but the willingly so.

Rant: OFF

Peace,
