There's a new tough FL sheriff in town, and he's getting his own reality show.
Sheriff Grady Judd pursues porn and atheists with a passion. He is a staunch Southern Baptist who wants his community to meet those standards in every way.

He is always on the TV touting his latest achievement. Now he has been offered his own reality show.

Judd Offered His Own Reality Television Show

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, right, speaks during a press conference as Haines City Police Chief Rick Sloan looks on in Bartow. Judd has been offered his own documentary show.
RICK RUNION | THE LEDGER

The Polk County Sheriff was making national news in 2006 after one of his deputies was shot and killed. SWAT team members had opened fire on the suspect, killing him instantly. Of the 110 rounds fired, 68 hit him. Judd was quoted nationwide as saying the suspect would have been shot more times if the SWAT team members had not run out of bullets.

When Register returned to Polk County earlier this year, he had an idea. Why not create a reality TV show based on Judd.

Social networking also embraces Judd. In addition to the official Sheriff's Office Facebook page that has 8,845 fans, there are several fan pages created by Polk County residents. Judd appears in more than 200 videos on Youtube with more than 160,000 views.

This summer he was featured on the cover of "Today & Tonight," a local entertainment magazine, dressed in Western clothing.

More about Grady Judd and an atheist activist who is suing him for giving public property from the jail to religious schools.

Atheist held in jail for days for making sex noises in her own home.

BARTOW - Outspoken Atheist Ellen Beth Wachs is in the Polk County Jail on no bond. On Wednesday, her attorney said she is there because local law enforcement sees her as a thorn in their side.

"I don't think they like people speaking out and challenging their authority," said attorney John Ligouri.

Wachs is accused of making sexual noises that her neighbor's 10-year-old son heard. According to investigators, here's what happened: the boy was playing basketball one morning. Wachs asked him to stop because she was sick and the noise was bothering her. The boy did stop, but a few minutes later, he began shooting hoops with his dad.

Sheriff Joe is getting some new opposition.

1. As a local, I'm not surprised. Though, I must say
I'd rather he a reality show than run for a higher office.

2. I think the general public would see him for what he is....
if he ran for higher office.

At least I sure as heck hope so.

3. More on the reality show from the Tampa Trib

"Could the colorful and outspoken sheriff of Polk County become a reality TV star?

Grady Judd, no stranger to TV cameras thanks to frequent news conferences, certainly has the potential to draw ratings.

The tough lawman, who is not afraid to speak his mind, has been in the national spotlight many times for doing things such as requiring male inmates at the country jail pay for prison-issued underwear or go commando, saving the county an estimated $45,000 per year.

He's cracked down on pedophiles and child pornographers with far-reaching online and undercover stings that have led to out-of-state arrests in places such as Colorado, North Carolina and Maryland."

He's even extraditing a child pornographer from Australia, last I heard.
