Freepers FREAK OUT on Huntsman pro-science comments....LOL!!
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2765873/posts#comment

"And this is why you will not get a Repub nomination for dog catcher."

"Someone is behind Huntsman, urging him to run. Who? He’s a nobody with very questionable credentials, and who thinks having another Mormon in the race is a good idea??? (Nothing against Mormons, but Romney has taken plenty of hits re: his religion. Huntsman will as well, IF his campaign gets any traction.) Huntsman in the race is just plain weird."

"Trust which scientists, Huntsman? Many of us are skeptics on AGW."

"Huntsman must be in the race to split the crucial Mormon vote. Has all the signs of a Ron Paul black op."

"The old-skool neo-cons are seeing their power about to be crushed by real Americans."

"Mr. Huntsman:
Would you kindly go Fuck Yourself.
You have now shown why you entered the race.
to be a the shill and henchman for Romney.
And to get one of your own in..."

3. I would love to see that happen because he seems half sane
and is the only one who does, however, I don't think sanity is acceptable in today's GOP.

9. It's still hard to fathom that Gerald Ford was a Republican.
He was a good, kind, decent, thoughtful man.

He would have no place in today's Repugnant party.

10. I don't want to see the guy get it, because then it would be a bit more work to win.
I'd be doing more precinct walking than my old bones can handle!

I don't rule it out, though. Those Republicans may vote against their own self-interests, but they're not entirely stupid when it comes down to practicalities. They have to know that the bulk of their "field" are creepy-crazy wingnuts, and the only one that "comes off" (even if he isn't) as fresh, new, a tabula rasa and sane is the middle aged man on the motorbike.

15. Huntsman would be a tough candidate for Obama to beat
If he got the nomination he would very likely win the general election, but I don't think Obama needs to worry too much because the Tea Party will never allow Huntsman to get the nomination. They will ensure Obama's reelection by selecting Michele Bachmann as their nominee.

17. I hope you are right, but I think it is too soon to tell, at this stage.
That Tea Party could implode. Look at Newtie's Contract On, er With, America....

2. I just can't laugh at such devastating ignorance...
And I certainly can't celebrate the demise of any thoughtful, intelligence and moderate views expressed within the Rethug party. I'm certainly not supporting Huntsman, but it sends shivers down my spine that any thoughtful, moderate or non-insane views, whatsoever, are so ceremoniously attacked by RETHUGS... It means the damage that will be done, should any Rethug make it to the WH--or by others in Congress-- will be extreme--and dangerous.

5. Yep.
Anti-science views are bad enough on the left; having them be a core doctrine of one entire half of the political spectrum instead of just a hobby on their part isn't funny at all.

there are Freepers in that thread talking about the lack of "transitional species" in the fossil record, and saying evolution is bogus.

Idiots, please-- look here:

19. 'The crucial Mormon vote'??
I admit to not being an expert on voting block demographics, but is there such a thing as a'crucial Mormon vote'?

And as always, lucky for us I suppose, the Freepers shoot themselves in the foot.

In my opinion, Huntsman is probably the only Repub on the ticket who actually would be a challenge for Obama because he sounds sane. And even sounding sane in today's Republican party is a plus.

but commenting that he agrees with the scientific consensus simply isn't enough....If he's not willing to get (politically speaking) really bloody DEFENDING those remarks by going toe to toe with the morons inside his own party, its a useless gesture, and will only cost him in the long run.

He put his flag in the ground; I'M interested to see if he is now willing to die defending it. (And I mean this with ALL sincerity--good luck man, you're probably going to need it, but for the moment you have my tacit support for at least trying..)
