I have a suspicion about Gaddafi
crazier than a run-over dog.

has a screw loose.

insane in the membrane.

needs a check up from the neck up.

one fry short of a Happy Meal.

two cans short of a six pack.

And I mean LITERALLY.

Now here is the part that scares the shit out of me : Who can be this pathological and still rational enough
to maintain power for decades.

~shudder~

1. All of these despots are crazy, look at Idi Amin, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, Salazar of

Portugal, and good 'ole Fidel Castro. The can do it for decades using torture, suppression, etc.

now, being that it is a FACT that he has maintained power for decades, I will leave it up to you to determine what part of your hypothesis is incorrect.

edit: typos

6. Someone can be goofier than a left-handed football bat
and still be a cunning and ruthless SOB. Which pretty much sums up Gaddafi Duck. Not to mention most of the announced challengers for the Repig nomination.

5. I have a suspicion about Gaddafi
Gaddafi is just trash that has been flushed. Let's get him off the front page and forget him.

8. Most despots get into power due to sociopathic tendencies.
Coups tend to favor the guy who has the fewest restraints on what he's willing to do. You might have two generals each take over a small country, but one is basically rational and hesitates at murdering all his political opponents, while the slightly crazier one has them publicly gibbeted, their wives and children raped, and their hometown burned to the ground. Guess who stays in power longer.

11. Gaddafi planned his coup for years in secret cells -- and toppled the King with no bloodshed.

He has left Libya with an educated populace and a vast surplus with no debt.

The West is not so careful with their regime change operations.

Being Crazy may not be so bad.

14. imagine Cheney
with unlimited power, wealth and total authority. Imagine him ruling us for 42 years, unfetterd, unrestrained in all his evil Cheney-ness. Cheney acting out his every psychotic delusion. Imagine every jail a his personal Abu Ghraib. Imagine he wrote a little green rule book telling us how to think and act. ~shudder~
