1. The Repiglican monkey house
is so overcrowded with shrieking lunatics it's almost impossible to pick out who the craziest ones are. The Pauls, Perry, Batshit and Mooselini do their best to stand out, though.

4. I never did understand the Republicans' hatred of France...

We share the Enlightenment together and both had 18th-century revolutions.

And France gave us the saxophone*, without which we wouldn't have had Art Pepper, Charlie Parker, Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, John Coltrane, Pepper Adams, Johnny Hodges, and Cannonball Adderley!

Not to mention Sonny Criss :D

It continues to baffle me...

______
Yeah, I know...Aldolph Sax was Belgian, but he invented the instrument in Paris around 1840. It was patented in France in 1846.

7. Could all trace back to French Indochina, Viet Nam specifically
Republicons are still pissed that we stepped into France's colonial shit sandwich and put a dent in the Industrial-Military-Congresional-ThinkTank Complex.

8. they do their best to ignore Ron Paul because, unlike the others...
Edited on Mon Aug-29-11 06:40 PM by mike_c
...he's reasonably smart and rational. One can reach the wrong conclusions while still being smart and rational, but Ron Paul is smart, rational, and WAY off of the mainstream republican playbook. Ironically, (1) that makes him a real threat to the Republican establishment, and (2) no threat at all to the crazies running against one another in the primary, because they and the corporate media will simply pretend that he does not exist. Nah nah na nah nah! I can't hear you!

Oddly, this will work, because most U.S. voters are completely incapable of figuring out the real issues and how they stand on them without the corporate media to frame the debate and tell them what to think. The same is true for democratic voters, BTW. How often have we heard here on DU that Dennis Kucinich is "unelectable," despite obvious evidence to the contrary in his district? Kucinich is also smart and rational, and unlike Ron Paul, he's more often right than wrong-- but he's just as great a threat to the corporate elite that calls the shots in Washington and on America's broadcast media.
