The politics of disaster aid bootstraps.
I wonder why we have yet to hear whining and moaning from republicans about all that money "wasted" on disasters that occurred in states with no NO STATE INCOME TAX..

It seems to me that these states love to brag about their "no-government" policies, and they love to poach jobs from all over the country (to bolster their own jobs-numbers). Without a state income tax, all those states are on a razor's edge when it comes to budgeting, and the kamikaze budget balancing from year to year and from governor to governor does not allow for much of an emergency fund.

States with no income taxes:

You'll notice that two of those states are prone to tornadoes and hurricanes, one of them suffers routine drought.

People who elect governors who loot the coffers and do not at least attempt to have an emergency fund are not serving their state well...and when they do have emergencies (as most states at some time or other do) stick out that hand for help from the rest of us. We do not refuse help, nor do we send a bill, because we all know that someday, the shoe will be on the other foot, and we may be the ones needing help.
