I feel like a Liberal scorned... I loved Obama.. It was one of the happiest days of my life when he was inaugurated... Now I feel like a jilted lover.. He prefers them to us.....at least that is how I intepret his actions, when he abandons all Progressive ideology and goes along with Republicans...Is there fury...Hell yes, but as he and his entire Administration know, I have no where else to go..(battered spouse syndrone). I will vote for him, not because I like him or am excited about the good things he will do for this country, but because I hate what Republicans stand for with all my heart, and the thought of a Rick Perry with the button in his hand scares the be-Jesus out of me...I think I probably am not alone with these type thoughts...What a disappointment these last two years have been for me...I can only hope and pray things will get better...Besides that there is fresh snow all over the mountain tops.....:shrug:

better him than any of the other choices. hasn't don't all i wanted. and some of the things he hasn't done, has us in this bad shape and will stay with us a very long time. he has accomplished some. and 10x's better than bush. or mccain and palin.

I understand how you feel; after 8 years of suffering under Bush, Obama was to so many, a savior. But the pedestal he was placed on was much too high and there was no way he could possibly live up to it.

I choose to be a bit pragmatic about Obama; fully realizing the obstacles he's faced and how difficult getting ANYTHING done has been. He is one man with scores of enemies doing whatever they can to make sure he fails.

I still believe in "Yes We Can", with the word "We" being critical. Obama cannot cause change on his own. We all have to make it happen as well.

So what is the excuse for the first TWO YEARS when we controlled both the Senate and House with super majority, and the Presidency???? What was stopping him then?

Alas, nothing on the horizon will pull America out of its plight and further significant declines in all measurements of quality of life, standard of living, and overall societal well-being, already in the works with the carefully orchestrated grand bargain with repugs, are assured. :patriot:

quite a few people put him on some sort of pedestal, then felt betrayed when he fell off the pedestal THEY put him on in the first place.

I don't know if you've ever had that happen to you from the other side, but let me tell you, it's not pleasant.

When someone raises you almost to the level of Goddess (or God), then you can never do anything right. Being a fallible human being and all, and having to live up to, not your own promises, but what someone else saw in you. Their fantasy.

It sucks.

Like a couple of others here, I had no great expectations. No fantasy. In fact, I was worried that a lot of people WOULD see in him what they wanted to see and end up disillusioned. Or feeling outright "betrayed".

If you feel betrayed by someone, I think the first thing to do is to check with your own expectations first. Don't go putting too much faith, hope, or trust in another person. Not without that person having earned it first.
