Estelle Carol Wins UCS “Unions Now More Than Ever” Contest

Chicago illustrator Estelle Carol has won Union Communication Services’ “Unions Now More Than Ever Contest,” UCS Publisher David Prosten announced on Labor Day.
“Estelle’s striking graphic (attached and below) does a wonderful job of reminding people why unions are still needed and relevant in the 21st Century,” Prosten said. “Unions aren’t just about ending child labor in the textile mills of the 1930s. They’re still fighting for their communities, still standing up for worker rights. And in a globalized economy dominated by powerful multinationals, they’re more than ever the last best chance to protect and defend ordinary people.”
Carol will receive a $500 prize for her winning entry. With no winners in other contest categories, UCS will be donating $1,000 in prize money to American Rights at Work, a nonprofit advocacy organization supporting the right of workers to a free choice and a fair chance to join a union.
